Sandeep Mathrani
CEO, Brookfield Properties' retail group and Vice Chairman, Brookfield Properties
Sandeep Mathrani is CEO of Brookfield Properties' retail group and Vice Chairman, Brookfield Properties. For nearly eight years, he served as CEO of GGP Inc. and was part of the group that recapitalized GGP in November 2010.
Prior to joining GGP in 2010, Mr. Mathrani was President of Retail for Vornado Realty Trust, where he oversaw the U.S. retail real estate. Before that, he spent nearly a decade as executive vice president at Forest City Ratner, responsible for their retail development and leasing in the New York City metropolitan area.
Mr. Mathrani serves on the executive board and the board of trustees for the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), executive board and current vice chair of NAREIT and on the board of directors of Host Hotels & Resorts, Inc.
Mr. Mathrani holds a Master of Engineering, Master of Management Science and Bachelor of Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, N.J.
Jared Chupaila
Chief Operating Officer

Jared Chupaila is the Chief Operating Officer of Brookfield Properties' retail group and oversees the company's day-to-day operations, including leasing, business development, asset and property management, marketing, and business intelligence and strategy.
Before that, he spent nearly two decades at GGP, most recently as Executive Vice President of Leasing where he oversaw all leasing activity and new business opportunities for the retail real estate company’s 100-plus+ properties. He began his career as a leasing specialist at the Howard Hughes Corp. in Las Vegas.
Mr. Chupaila earned a bachelor's degree from Harvard University.

Kevin Berry
Executive Vice President, Finance and Administration
Kevin Berry is Executive Vice President of Finance & Administration for Brookfield Properties' retail group, responsible for teams focused on capital markets, jv relationships, investments, accounting, information technology, and human resources.
Mr. Berry joined GGP in 2011 as Vice President of Investor Relations and in 2016 became the Senior Vice President of Investor and Public Relations. He then became GGP's Executive Vice President of Human Resources and Communications in 2018. Prior to joining Brookfield Properties, Mr. Berry served as Vice President for Equity International and as Director of Financial Reporting for Equity Office Properties Trust and was also formerly a senior auditor for Ernst & Young.
Mr. Berry has an MBA from University of Notre Dame and is a Certified Public Accountant.
Troy Benson
Executive Vice President, Leasing
Troy Benson is Executive Vice President of Leasing for Brookfield Properties' retail group and oversees leasing activity for the company's portfolio of more than 150 regional shopping centers encompassing over 146 million square feet of retail space. Mr. Benson has spent more than 20 years at the company and has held a leadership role in nearly every sector of the leasing department. Early in his tenure, Troy was Vice President of Asset Management overseeing marketing, leasing and the management teams for 45 regional shopping centers. Mr. Benson's robust real estate career began in Florida where he worked on ground-up development projects.
Mr. Benson earned a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Kansas.
John Cournoyer
Executive Vice President, Construction, Design & Development Administration
John Cournoyer serves as Executive Vice President, Construction, Design & Development for Brookfield Properties. Mr. Cournoyer has more than 25 years of experience in development, construction, finance, design, leasing, and acquisitions. He has been with the company since 2011 as a key leader in the construction, design, and development helping to bring $3 billion development and re-development projects online across the portfolio.
Prior to joining Brookfield Properties, Mr. Cournoyer spent 12 years as a real estate development executive in the New York office of Forest City Enterprises.
Mr. Cournoyer earned his Bachelor of Arts in architecture from Bennington College, a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Architecture from Rhode Island School of Design, and holds a Master of Science in real estate development from Columbia University (New York).
Stacie L. Herron
Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary
Stacie Heron is the Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary for Brookfield Properties' retail group and is responsible for all of the company’s legal matters and oversight of the day-to-day operations of the legal department. Ms. Herron joined GGP, Inc. in May 2008 as an attorney in the Corporate, Contracts and Securities group, taking over leadership of that team in March 2011, and succeeding to her current role in July 2018.
Prior to joining GGP, Ms. Herron was an in-house corporate attorney with a NYSE-traded retail company, where she was responsible for corporate, finance and international matters. Before moving in-house, Ms. Herron was a corporate associate at a Chicago law firm, where she focused on general corporate, transactional and securities matters on behalf of public and private companies.
Ms. Herron received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Tulsa and her Juris Doctor from Northwestern Pritzker School of Law.
Brian McCarthy
Executive Vice President, Asset Management
Brian McCarthy serves as Executive Vice President of Asset Management at Brookfield Properties' retail group, overseeing management, operations, tenant coordination and energy/sustainability for the company.
Over the last two decades, Mr. McCarthy has held numerous positions in asset management. Mr. McCarthy spent 14 years working at The Rouse Company—starting as a college intern in development.
Mr. McCarthy is a graduate of the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business and is also a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers.
Tara Marszewski
Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer
Tara Marszewski is the Chief Financial Officer for Brookfield Properties' retail group, overseeing all aspects of the company’s accounting, finance, and taxation functions including financial and operational accounting, SEC reporting and compliance, corporate finance, financial planning and analysis, and tax reporting and strategy.
Ms. Marszewski joined Brookfield Properties' retail group (formerly GGP) in January 2012 and previously served as the Chief Accounting Officer. Prior to joining our company, Ms. Marszewski worked as a Senior Manager in the real estate audit practice at KPMG, LLP, where she spent 10 years focusing on public and private REITs in addition to equity funds.
Ms. Marszewski is a CPA and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy from the University of Illinois.
Chris Pine
Executive Vice President, Anchors and Big Box Leasing & Development
Chris Pine is the Executive vice President of Anchors and Big Box Leasing & Development at Brookfield Properties and is a seasoned veteran in the retail real estate industry. Mr. Pine leads the leasing strategy for redeveloping department stores across the Brookfield Properties portfolio and spearheads efforts to bring new uses to those anchor spaces such as retail, fitness, grocery, entertainment, and more. He started at the company in 2011 as Senior Vice President of Big Box Leasing.
Previously, Mr. Pine worked as a Vice President of Real Estate for Whole Foods Market where he transacted more than 1 million square feet of leases per year and as a real estate director for Brinker International where he was responsible for the rollout of emerging concepts.
Mr. Pine graduated from the University of California in Santa Barbara with a Bachelor of Arts in organizational psychology.
Annette Prater
Executive Vice President, Head of Technology and Innovation, Brookfield Properties
Annette Prater, Executive Vice President and Head of Technology and Innovation at Brookfield Properties, is responsible for technology strategy, data and, and innovation across all of Brookfield Properties' business entities.
Ms. Prater joined Brookfield Properties' retail group in 2016 as Chief Innovation Officer and was responsible for the strategy and execution of all technology capabilities across the company and its shopping centers. Prior to this role, Ms. Prater spent 18 years at JLL, one of the world's largest global real estate services firms.
Ms. Prater earned her MBA from Northwestern Kellogg School of Management and her Bachelors’ Degree in Accountancy from the University of Illinois. Annette holds a PMP (Project Management Professional) certification, is a Certified ScrumMaster and is a licensed CPA in the State of Illinois.
Kathy Rugebregt
Senior Vice President, Human Resources
Kathy Rugebregt is the Senior Vice President of Human Resources, overseeing all aspects of the company’s human resources functions including talent acquisition, employee relations, learning and development, compensation, benefits and compliance. Responsible for more than 1,900 employees, Ms. Rugebregt is at the forefront of driving the organization’s strong cultural values. During her 14-year tenure with the company, Kathy has held other senior-level human resources roles including HR data management and talent acquisition.
Ms. Rugebregt holds a Bachelor of Science from Northern Illinois University.
Michelle Snyder
Senior Vice President, Chief Marketing Officer
Michelle Snyder is the Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for Brookfield Properties' retail group, and is responsible for driving brand awareness for the company’s more than 160 retail assets to a variety of key audiences, including tenant partners and consumers. Ms. Snyder oversees a team of more than 70 employees, focusing on everything from creative design to public relations, consumer and tenant marketing and more.
Prior to joining Brookfield Properties in 2014, Ms. Snyder acted as the head of consumer insights at MARS Wrigley Confectionery.
Ms. Snyder is a graduate of Louisiana State University and has an MBA in International Marketing from Thunderbird International School of Management.
Adam Tritt
Executive Vice President, Development
Adam Tritt is the Executive Vice President of Development and oversees the Brookfield Properties development team. In this role, Mr. Tritt is responsible for the strategy surrounding re-development of assets in the entire retail portfolio. Mr. Tritt has spent his entire career at Brookfield Properties (formerly GGP), beginning as an analyst in 1999 in the development group. He has worked in a variety of roles including most recently overseeing retail assets in the West. Over the past eight years, Mr. Tritt has completed projects valued at more than $1 billion and generated more than $80 million in new net operating income.
Mr. Tritt graduated from The University of Pennsylvania with degrees from the Engineering School and The Wharton School of Business.
